Mr Philip Dobson MBBS, PhD, FRCS is a fellowship trained, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee reconstruction, knee preservation, hip and knee replacement and robotic surgery. He graduated from Newcastle University and completed his orthopaedic surgical training in the North East. He then completed a one year fellowship at Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre in Queensland, Australia and a one year fellowship in major trauma surgery at John Hunter Hospital in New South Wales, Australia. He works as an NHS Consultant at Newcastle Hospitals and sees private patients at Nuffield Health Newcastle Hospital.
Mr Dobson provides clear, evidence-based advice and a full range of surgical and non-surgical treatments. His goal is simple: to help patients return to pain-free movement and the activities they love.

For self-funding patients, an initial consultation is £200, follow-ups £150, and surgery packages are available from £4,600.
If you have private medical insurance, most consultations and treatments will be covered by your policy. I work with the following providers: Allianz, AXA, Aviva, BUPA, Vitality Health, Westfield Health.
If you are insured with another provider, please contact my secretary who can confirm whether cover is available.
If you do not have private medical insurance, you are welcome to self-fund your treatment.

Any recent X-rays, scans, clinic letters, and a list of your medications. This helps me make the most of our time together.
An initial consultation is £200, and follow-up appointments are £150. Most insurers cover these fees.
I see private patients at Nuffield Health Newcastle and also work as a Consultant within Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust.
Appointments are usually available within 1–2 weeks.
Surgery packages are available from £4,600. Consultancy fees would depend if you have private medical insurance.
